Operation Healthy Reunions (OHR)

A program of Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas

About the OHR program

OHR is profoundly committed to providing a safe, confidential place for military personnel and their families to heal. We are dedicated to supporting our troops and their families before, during and after their service. Serving returning Veterans of any foreign war and their family members.

With community support, OHR is able to fund mental health services at no charge to our client. OHR provides individual, couples, family, children therapy, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Support Groups, and Anger Management classes for Veterans and their family members residing in the following 18 counties: Bell, Coryell, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Dallas, Rockwall, Kaufman, Ellis, Wise, Palo Pinto, Parker,Tarrant, Erath, Hood, Somervell, Johnson, and Navarro counties.

The mission of OHR is to support military families who are experiencing the effects of deployment and combat-related injuries. Operation Healthy Reunions is excited to enter into its 6th year of providing mental health services via referral for Veterans and their family members before, during and after deployment.  The OHR program will be offered in North and Central Texas, under the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas mental health committee. The program is designed with 3 major components for this population: Easy Access, Effective Evidence Based Therapeutic and dental Services, and Confidentiality. In addition, we offer a faith-based component and equestrian therapy.

The OHR program provides EASY ACCESS  to care through a network of 75 contracted licensed mental health professionals located within a 18 county coverage area. All potential OHR providers must complete a credentialing process before becoming a part of the OHR network.  Due to the expansiveness of the program, participants 1) avoid long travel times 2) have short wait times before seeing their therapist, and 3) have the ability to see the same provider throughout their participation in the program.

In order for a provider to participate in the OHR program, they must state what type of EVIDENCE BASED THERAPIES they most often use in their program.  The majority list CBT, Solution Focus Brief Therapy.  The OHR program is the longest standing Veteran specific mental health program in North Texas, directly providing services to veterans, their parents, spouse, significant other, and children…all FREE of charge!

CONFIDENTIALITY is one of the major corner stones of our program. OHR will never release any information without written consent from program participants unless there is a threat of harm to self or others.  Although OHR could not have achieved the fantastic growth we have obtained without the incredible support via referrals from the Dallas VA Medical Center OEF/OIF/OND Social Work team, Mental Health Trauma and Poly Trauma Departments, and Army Wounded Warrior, Vets 4 Vets, and now the US Army; confidentiality must be strictly adhered to.
